ConneX Feature Support (Meridian/Norstar/Definity)

The PBXgateway II supports the ConneX features, this includes RemoteConneX as well as
MobileConneX features, depending on the phones being used.
The terms MobileConneX and RemoteConneX may be used synonymously throughout this manual.
Note that RemoteConneX is not available in Europe.
This application puts PBX features and dialtone in the hands of users of remote telephones. MCK's
PBXgateway II application uses both the primary and the secondary channels of a PBX digital port. Each
channel has an associated 4/5-digit extension (a.k.a. terminal number or TN). DEFINITY users refer to
the primary voice channel as I1 and the secondary data channel as I2. Meridian users refer to the primary
voice TN as B1 and the secondary voice TN as B2.
(Norstar) Norstar systems do not support secondary data channels. When connecting the
RemoteConneX PBXgateway II to a Norstar KSU, some ports on the PBXgateway must be configured as
trunk lines. The PBXgateway II will use these trunk lines to place outgoing calls (or for dial-in purposes)
to route calls to the extended RemoteConneX users.

Dialback Modes

ConneX Operation Modes – The system administrator can configure any port or combination of ports on
the PBXgateway II to support ConneX functionality. Any port that is designated for RCX functionality can
also be configured to operate in one of four operating modes:
Roaming Mode
Requires the user to program or modify the Dialback Number via the ADSI phone menu or via the
Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system when using a mobile phone. The Dialback Number is the phone
number to which the Gateway will route incoming calls.
Fixed Mode
Requires the System Administrator to program a permanent Dialback Number in the Gateway. In Fixed
mode, the user cannot program or modify the Dialback Number via the phone menu or the IVR system.
