Setting the Interface Type

1. Access the WAN 1 or WAN 2 Menu using the following path:
MI Path
Configuration->WAN 1 or 2
2. The WAN menu appears. Press the → key to access the parameters.
3. Press the ↓ key to the Interface Type parameter, which has the following values:
Value
DCE
DTE
Notes:
DTE is typically used to connect to a third party CSU/DSU for RVP_Direct (Serial RVP) installations.
DCE is typically used in Add/Drop configurations (connecting to an EXTender 6000 or a Router). In DCE
installations, you must use the 25 pin Female-to-Female crossover cable (DB-25, RS-530) that we pro-
vide.
4. For most connections, you will want to set the this parameter to DTE.
5. Press the ← key to accept changes and go back to the Configuration Menu.
6. Press the ↓ key to the Save parameter.
7. Press Enter to save changes to the active config (.rem) file.

The WAN port on the EXTender 7000 PBXgateway II connects to a DCE
device.
