Add/Drop Application You can use one of the EXTender 7000 WAN ports as an Add/Drop port, which can send traffic to another network device. Using the MI, specific DS0 channels of the T1/PRI Port_1 can be mapped to the Add/Drop port. This allows traffic on those channels to remain unchanged while they are passed through the T1/PRI card to another device on the network.

2:1 Configuration - Computing the Required Bandwidth In this configuration, the bandwidth in the system must be shared by both EXTender 7000 units. Use the formula below to compute the bandwidth for each EXTender 7000: Bandwidth for EXTender 7000 number 1 = Phone Bandwidth (from Bandwidth Calcula- tor) - Bandwidth for EXTender 7000 number 2. EXTender Bandwidth Requirements Use the MCK Bandwidth Calculator to compute the Extender Bandwidth for both remote units.

  • Page 61: Setting The Local Dialing Parameters

This configuration also uses Voice Hairpinning to maintain local voice quality and to avoid long distance charges. When Voice Hairpinning is being utilized the voice path is local to the EXTender 7000 and only sig- nalling is sent over the IP network to the PBX (Toll Bypass). When a call is de-hairpinned it is routed in such a manner that the voice and signalling data are both routed to the PBXgateway II.
