Parameters
Description
<user name>
User name specified for the framed network. The limit is 64 ASCII
characters.
gateway
IP address or name of the gateway used to reach this remote network.
ip_route
IP name or address of the remote network
metric
Integer representing how far away the route is, in "hops" from other
routers. The default is 1. The range is 1-15.
Assigns a specified number of contiguous IP addresses for allocation by the
OfficeConnect Gateway. When dial-in network users are dynamically assigned IP
addresses, those IP addresses are allocated from a pool which has the advantage
of bundling several IP addresses into one to limit RIP advertisements.
The pool is created as a range, starting from an initial address/subnet mask. As PPP
or SLIP users dial in, IP allocates an address from this pool and assigns them to the
user. IP addresses are automatically allocated on a public or private basis for users
who aren't assigned to a pool (public) or for those who are (private). Pools are also
advertised as aggregate, non-aggregate, or mulitple_aggregate routes. If an IP
pool is configured as an aggregate address pool, the associated network route will
get added to the Routing Table immediately, and be advertised as a single network
route. If the address pool is defined as no_aggregate, individual host routes are
added to the Routing Table when a user dials in and receives an address from the
IP address pool. If the IP pool is specified as mulitple_aggregate, the pool is divided
into 'n' routes, depending on the value entered for max_unused_addrs.
The OfficeConnect Gateway automatically derives subnet masks for aggregate
users but a mask can be configured for no_aggregate users.
The add ip pool command has the following parameters:
initial_pool_address <IP_network_address/subnet>
max_unused_addrs <0-4096>
route [aggregate | no_aggregate | multiple_aggregate]
size <1-4096>
state [public | private]
Users assigned to more than one pool will receive an address from the last
assigned pool in round robin fashion. Also, if the administrator reduces the size of
the pool, users whose associated address pool was deleted won't be denied access
until after their calls have terminated.
Parameters
<pool name>
Description
Designation of the IP pool. The limit is 16 ASCII characters.
