HARDWARE FEATURES
The PC Keyboard
To make it more convenient to use, your PC ~ \
keyboard is divided into three sections:
a
typewriter
section,
which
holds
the
alphanumeric keys found on a standard
typewriter, plus a few special keys
a numeric keypad, which is used to enter
numeric data and control movement of the
cursor
a block of ten function keys, which can be
programmed to carry specific instructions to
the computer
The following pages describe the specific functions
of certain keys as they are used on your computer.
The Typewriter Section

The Return key, also called the Enter key, ( ' \
must be pressed whenever you want to
enter a command. In addition, it functions
like the carriage return on a standard
typewriter.
The Backspace key erases the last
character typed as it moves the cursor one
position to the left.
Print Screen, when pressed along with the
Shift key, sends a copy of whatever is
displayed on the screen to the printer. It
types an asterisk when unshifted.
The two Shift keys function like the Shift
keys on a standard typewriter.
The Caps Lock key, which affects only the
characters A through Z, locks these letters
~
in the uppercase position. To get lower-
case letters while the Caps Lock key is on,

press the Shift key.
