The mouse is an electronic pointing device which
provides X- and V-positioning input to the

workstation. The mouse guides a pointer on the
screen as it is moved across the mouse pad. The
pointer is generally represented by an arrow, but
can take on different shapes depending upon the
function being performed.
The mouse is used to select icons and menu items,
to position the cursor for text input and editing,
and to invoke commands.
