Storage controller options

The server supports the following storage controllers:
For SATA drives only – Embedded HPE Smart Array S100i SR Gen10 Controller
For SAS and SATA drives – Smart Array type-p SR Gen10 controllers

Storage controller installation guidelines

To maintain optimal thermal conditions when installing a Smart Array Gen10 type-p controller, Hewlett
Packard Enterprise recommends the following guidelines.

Installing a standup PCIe plug-in Smart Array controller (type-p)

Prerequisites
Before you perform this procedure, make sure that you have the following items available:
Smart Array standup controller option kit
If you are installing a Smart Array P-class type-p Gen10 controller, an energy pack option is required.
T-15 Torx screwdriver
Before you perform this procedure, perform the following steps:
1. Back up data on the system.
2. Close all applications.
3. Update the server firmware if it is not the latest revision.
4. Do one of the following:
Recommended PCIe slot
Slot 1, 3 or 4
Slot 1, 3 or 4
Cable option
Mini-SAS cable option
Mini-SAS cable option
Hardware options installation
