This vehicle is equipped with an electronic transmission control system, which control the automatic shift up and
shift down timing, TCC operation, etc. suitably to vehicle driving conditions.
TCM has an On-Board Diagnosis system which detects a malfunction in this system and abnormality of those parts.
When diagnosing a trouble in the transmission including this system, be sure to have full understanding of the out-
line of "ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM" and each item in "PRECAUTION IN DIAGNOSING TROUBLE" and
execute diagnosis according to "AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION DIAGNOSTIC FLOW TABLE" to obtain correct
result smoothly.

DIAGNOSIS

ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM

For automatic transmission control system, TCM has following
functions.
D When TCM detects a malfunction in A/T control system while the
engine is running, it stores the malfunction area in its memory.
D It is possible to communicate through DLC (2) by using SUZUKI
scan tool (1). (Diagnostic information can be accessed by using
a scan tool (1).)
D It is also possible to output by flashing of "O/D OFF" lamp (3) with
diagnosis switch terminal (5) of monitor connector (4) grounded.
If no DTC is stored in TCM memory, DTC No.12 is outputted re-
peatedly.
If one or more DTCs are stored in TCM memory, they are out-
putted three times per one code starting from smallest code num-
ber in increasing order.
After all DTCs are outputted, all DTCs are outputted again in the
manner mentioned above.
