6G-8 CRANKING SYSTEM
D Ground Test
Check commutator and armature core. If there is continuity, ar-
mature is grounded and must be replaced.
D Open Circuit Test
Check for continuity between segments. If there is no continuity
at any test point, there is an open circuit and armature must be
replaced.
5. FIELD COIL
D Check for continuity between brushes (1) and between con-
nector (2) and brush (1). Replace field coil if there is continuity.
D Check for continuity between connector (2) and yoke (1). Re-
place field coil if there is continuity.
