TROUBLESHOOTING
Step
1 Was "A/T DIAGNOSTIC FLOW TABLE" in this
section performed?
2 Check engine speed input circuit.
1) Turn ignition switch OFF and disconnect TCM
and ECM connectors.
2) Check for proper connection to TCM and ECM
at following terminals.
For vehicle equipped with single-connector
ECM: E202-15 and C51-62.
For vehicle equipped with triple-connector
ECM: E202-15 and E227-7.
3) If OK, measure resistance between terminal
E202-15 of disconnected harnesses side TCM
connector and following terminal.
For vehicle equipped with single-connector
ECM: terminal C51-62 of disconnected harness
side ECM connector.
For vehicle equipped with triple-connector
ECM: terminal E227-7 of disconnected harness
side ECM connector.
Is it about 0 Ω?
3 Check engine speed input circuit.
Measure between terminal E202-15 of
disconnected harness side TCM connector and
ground.
Is it infinity?
4 Check TCM terminal voltage.
1) With ignition switch OFF, connect TCM
connector.
2) Turn ignition switch ON.
3) Measure voltage between following terminal
and ground.
For vehicle equipped with single-connector
ECM: terminal C51-62 of disconnected harness
side ECM connector.
For vehicle equipped with triple-connector
ECM: terminal E227-7 of disconnected harness
side ECM connector.
Is it 10 – 14 V?
Action
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION (4 A / T) 7B1-49
Yes
Go to Step 2.
Go to Step 3.
Go to Step 4.
Intermittent trouble,
faulty TCM or faulty
ECM.
Check for intermittent
referring to
"INTERMITTENT AND
POOR CONNECTION"
in Section 0A.
If OK, substitute a
known-good TCM or
ECM and recheck.
No
Go to "A/T
DIAGNOSTIC FLOW
TABLE" in this section.
"BRN" circuit open.
"BRN" circuit shorted to
ground.
Substitute a known-
good TCM and
recheck.
