Chapter 2 Basic Operation
When you want to change the take-up
method to the method using the
tension bar during printing
While printing using only the take-up device, you can
change the take-up method to the method using the
tension bar.
Press

• Winding operation stops.
• When the media is set inward, the media is fed to
the position where the tension bar can be set.
(The countdown for the feeding amount is
displayed.)
Lift the tension- bar down slowly.

• Unlock the tension-bar, and then lift it down.
• When the media is set inward, wait until the count
becomes "0", and then lower the tension bar.

(1) Detect the tension bar origin.
• When the switching operation fails, the result
is displayed, and then winding operation
using the take-up device continues. Return
the tension bar to the locking position.

Unlike roll media, leaf media does not need to be retained
with the roll holders.
Open the front cover, and then raise the

clamp lever.

Insert the leaf media between the platen

and the pinch rollers, and push down the
clamp lever.
• Set the media so that no media sticks out from the
right end pinch roller to the right side.
Hold the media with the media press

gently.
• Set the media so that no media sticks out from the
right end pinch roller to the right side.
• When using a thick media, remove the media
press from the media before printing.
In this case, set the machine setup of "Setting the
Media Detection" to "MANUAL" (
refer to P.2-9 "Setting of the manual media width
setting" and set the media width.
