F.1 Overview of the Function
F.1.1 What is the MP2100M Slave CPU Synchronization Function?
The MP2100M slave CPU synchronization function can only be used with the MP2100M model JAPMC-
MC2140-ET3. Install the T-branch module (model: JEPMC-W6023-E) packaged with it by connecting it to the
MECHATROLINK connector (PORT 1) of the MP2100M CPU Board. If it is at the end of the network, be sure
to install a terminating resistor (model: JEPMC-W6022 (-E)).
The slave CPU synchronization function synchronizes the high-speed scan cycle at the master side with the high-
speed scan cycle at the MP2100M in configurations where another MP2000 series controller is used as the
MECHATROLINK master device and the Built-in SVB Modules of MP2100M devices are used as MECHA-
TROLINK slave stations.
Since this function enables synchronization among slave CPU devices as a matter of course, it enables the decen-
tralization of application programs by connecting MP2100M devices as slaves.
The MECHATROLINK-II slave CPU synchronization function is shown in a schematic diagram below.
Note that there is the MECHATROLINK-II communication delay shown in the diagram above before the com-
mands from the application program at the master device are transferred to the slave devices.
However, since this delay time is constant, the timing between the master and slave devices can be controlled by
the application program. Timing control for transfers among the slave CPUs is not necessary since there is no
delay and the timing is therefore unchanged.
 Caution
Some precautions must be observed in order to use the slave CPU synchronization function safely.
For details on these precautions, refer to F.4 Precautions.
