4.5.3 System Startup when Replacing Electronic Devices

Use the following procedure to start the system when replacing SERVOPACKs, Optional Modules, and other
electronic devices because of malfunctions and other problems.
1. Before replacing the electronic devices, backup the application using MPE720.
Note: For details on how to create a backup, refer to 4.3.2 (2) Loading the Sample Programs (MPE720 Ver
6.) or 4.3.2 (7) Dumping All Data (MPE720 Ver 5.).
2. Turning off power to the MP2100
Once the application has been backed up, log off from MPE720 or disconnect the communication, and
turn OFF the power to the MP2100.
3. Make the DIP and rotary switch and other settings for the new electronic device.
When using MECHATROLINK slaves, turn ON the power to that device only and check that it starts up
normally. Once normal startup has been confirmed, turn OFF the power supply.
4. Remove the electronic device to be replaced, connect the new device to the MP2100, and turn ON the
power to all MECHATROLINK slaves.
5. Turning MP2100 ON
Turn ON the power to the MP2100.
6. Saving SERVOPACK parameters
If a SERVOPACK has been replaced, use the following procedure to write the SERVOPACK parameters
saved to the MP2100 to the new SERVOPACK.
Select the axis in the SVB Definition window, then select the SERVOPACK tab to display the SERVO-
PACK tab page.
Note: For details on the SVB definition, refer to 4.2.2 Setting Motion Fixed Parameters and Adjusting
the Settings for Servo Control (for MPE720 Ver.6) or 4.3.2 (4) Setting and Saving Motion
Fixed Parameters (for MPE720 Ver.5).
7. Select File - Save to write the SERVOPACK settings to the SERVOPACK.
Note: All data for the SERVOPACK related settings of the MP2100 is written to the SERVOPACK when
Save is executed, and the data is also written in the MP2100 Current Value column.
