NOTE:
We strongly recommend the use of Juniper Networks transceivers.
We cannot guarantee correct operation if other transceivers are used. The
transceiver type can be different in each port, as long as a supported part
number is used.
To install a transceiver:
Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap to your bare wrist, and connect
1.
the strap to one of the ESD points on the chassis.
Take each transceiver to be installed out of its electrostatic bag and identify the slot
2.
on the component where it will be installed.
Verify that each transceiver is covered by a rubber safety cap. If it is not, cover the
3.
transceiver with a safety cap.
Carefully align the transceiver with the slots in the component. The connectors should
4.
face the component.
Slide the transceiver until the connector is seated in the component slot. If you are
5.
unable to fully insert the transceiver, make sure the connector is facing the right way.
Close the ejector handle of the transceiver.
6.
Remove the rubber safety cap from the transceiver and the end of the cable. Insert
7.
the cable into the transceiver.
Verify that the status LEDs on the component faceplate indicate that the transceiver
8.
is functioning correctly.

The power supplies are located at the rear of the chassis. Each AC power supply weighs
approximately 5.0 lb (2.3 kg).
CAUTION:
Do not leave a power supply slot empty for more than 30 minutes
while the services gateway is operational. For proper airflow, the power supply
must remain in the chassis, or a blank panel must be used in an empty slot.
