P LUMBING - STANDARD P ROCE DURE - RE F RIG-
E RANT SYSTE M E VACUATE ). Det er m in e if t h e
syst em h olds a va cu u m for 15 m in u t es. If va cu u m is
h eld, a lea k is pr oba bly n ot pr esen t . If syst em will
n ot m a in t a in va cu u m level, pr oceed t o St ep 2.
(2) P r epa r e a n d dispen se 0.284 kilogr a m s (10
ou n ces) of R-134a r efr iger a n t in t o t h e eva cu a t ed
r efr iger a n t syst em (Refer t o 24 - H E ATING & AIR
CONDITIONING/P LUMBING - STANDARD P RO-
CE DURE - RE F RIGE RANT SYSTE M CH ARGE ) a n d
pr oceed t o St ep 1 of t h e Syst em Low pr ocedu r e.

CAUTION: A leak detector only designed for R-12
refrigerant will not detect leaks in a R-134a refriger-
ant system.

STAN DARD PROCEDU RE
REFRIGERANT SYSTEM SERVICE EQUIPMENT
WARNING: Eye protection must be worn when ser-
vicing an A/C refrigerant system. Turn off (rotate
clockwise) all valves on the equipment being used,
before connecting to or disconnecting from the
refrigerant system. Failure to observe these warn-
ings may result in possible personal injury.
WARNING: Refer to the applicable warnings and
cautions for this system before performing the fol-
lowing operation (Refer to 24 - HEATING & AIR
CONDITIONING/PLUMBING - WARNINGS) and (Refer
to 24 - HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING/PLUMBING -
CAUTIONS). Failure to follow the warnings and cau-
tions could result in possible personal injury or
death.

CAUTION: Do not use an R-12 manifold gauge set
on an R-134a system. The refrigerants are not com-
patible and system damage will result.
