NOTE: If grooves can be felt in the belt pulley/vibra-
tion damper during inspection, the pulley/damper
must be replaced.

INSTALLA TION
NOTE: Align parallel key, fix in place with grease.
Turn to ensure the slot is aligned with parallel key
in crankshaft.
NOTE: Front crankshaft seal must be replaced
before installing the belt pulley/vibration damper.
(1) P osit ion t h e belt pu lley/vibr a t ion da m per.
(2) In st a ll cr a n ksh a ft cen t er bolt a n d wa sh er.
Tigh t en bolt in t wo st a ges. M8.8 bolt t o 200N·m (148
lbs. ft .) t h en 90°, M10.9 bolt t o 325N·m (240 lbs. ft .)
t h en 90°.
(3) Rem ove t h e r et a in in g lock for t h e cr a n ksh a ft /
r in g gea r (F ig. 47).
NOTE: Inspect accessory drive belt for wear.
Replace as necessary.
(4) In st a ll a ccessor y dr ive belt (Refer t o 7 - COOL-
ING/ACCE SSORY DRIVE /DRIVE BE LTS - INSTAL-
LATION).
(5) In st a ll t h e a ddit ion a l A/C com pr essor dr ive belt
(if equ ipped).
(6) In st a ll t h e coola n t m odu le (if equ ipped wit h t h e
a ddit ion a l A/C com pr essor ).
(7) Recon n ect n ega t ive ba t t er y ca ble.
WARNING: USE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN THE
ENGINE IS IN OPERATION. DO NOT STAND IN A
DIRECT LINE WITH THE FAN. DO NOT PUT YOUR
HANDS NEAR THE PULLEYS, BELTS OR FAN. DO
NOT WEAR LOOSE CLOTHING.
