6.29 Setting the INTIAL DOWN FORCE

The initial down-force setting is effective when TANGENTIAL mode is selected (for
the cutting of thick media). With thick film, additional time is required for the cutter
blade to penetrate the media fully, even when the necessary cutting force is
applied. The cutting operation starts before the cutter blade has fully penetrated
the media, causing uncut sections to be left. When the initial down force is
specified, this force is used as the cutting force immediately after the lowering of
the pen when TANGENTIALEMULATION is selected, enabling the cutter blade to
penetrate the media rapidly. (If the cutting force is 25 and the initial down force is
4, for example, the cutting force applied immediately after the pen is lowered will
be 29.)

Press the MENU key.
Press the NEXT key until the following menu appears.
Press the F4 key (OPTION 2). The following menu appears.
Note: PEN OFFSET ADJ. is only displayed for 2-pen models.
Press the F2 key (INITIAL DOWN FORCE). The following menu appears.
Use the (
) POSITION keys to increase or decrease the value.
Press the ENTER key to register your setting. If you wish to cancel your
selection, press the NEXT key.
This setting is retained in the plotter's internal memory even when the power is
turned off.
