External Storage Devices

Optional mass storage devices can be connected to the ProLiant ML750 server
by installing a PCI expansion board with an external connector.
For information on cabling to PCI expansion boards, see Chapter 5, "Cabling
the Server." For information on adding or removing PCI Hot Plug Expansion
Boards, see the "Adding Expansion Boards (PCI Hot Plug Slots
1 through 11)" section later in this chapter.
To install an external storage device, refer to the installation documentation
that came with the external storage device. The following illustration provides
only an overview of this installation.
1. If the server is on, place it in Standby mode and disconnect the power
cords. See the "Powering Down the Server" section in Chapter 3.
2. If the external storage device is on, disconnect the power.
3. Connect one end of the SCSI cable to the SCSI controller expansion
board connector.
4. Connect the other end of the SCSI cable to the appropriate external
SCSI connector on the rear panel of the external storage device.

5. Reconnect the power cords and turn on the server. See the "Powering
Up the Server" section in Chapter 3.
