7. Close the expansion slot release lever from the rear of the unit to secure
the board. Make sure the lever latches are in the closed position.
NOTE: No cable attachment is required.
8. Activate power to the slot through the PCI Hot Plug application or by
pressing the PCI Hot Plug button associated with the corresponding PCI
slot.
9. Review the slot's LEDs for slot status. The green LED will flash during
the power up transition and will stay on when power up is complete. For
details on PCI Hot Plug LEDs, see the "PCI Hot Plug LEDs" section
earlier in this chapter.
10. Close and lock the PCI Hot Plug access doors.

Non-Hot-Plug Expansion Board Installation

IMPORTANT: If you use a Remote Insight Board/PCI, Compaq recommends that it be
installed in Slot 1. If no Remote Insight Board/PCI is to be used with the server, any 32-bit
card may be used in Slot 1.
To install a non-hot plug expansion board:
1. If the server is on, place the server in Standby, unplug all power cords,
and unlock and open the hot-plug access doors. See Chapter 3, "Server
Operation."
