SCSI Hard Drive Installation Guidelines

The following guidelines should be noted when adding SCSI hard drives:
A maximum of seven 1-inch SCSI devices may be added in each of the

three ProLiant ML750 server internal drive cages.
The slot in which each drive is installed determines the SCSI ID of that

drive. SCSI IDs 6 and 7 are reserved for the controllers.
If only one SCSI hard drive is used, it should be installed in the

lowest-numbered bay. If several drives are installed, the drives should
be installed adjacent to each other starting from the lowest-numbered
bay, with the system boot drive installed in the lowest-numbered bay.
In order to maintain proper system cooling, blanking panels should be

installed in unused drive bays.
The server supports up to two Smart Array 4250ES controllers or other
controllers with Extended SCSI architecture. The two controllers are
redundant and are connected by an Intercontroller Link. The controllers are
designed to interact with three internal SCSI connectors on the I/O board.
Each internal SCSI connector is cabled directly to one internal hard drive cage.
