Connecting the PCI SCSI Controller Board to the
Drive Cage
CAUTION: Improperly routed and dressed SCSI cables can block system airflow
and cause component overheating. Route cables according to the figures
provided in this manual. Dress cables with clips provided with the server.
IMPORTANT: PCI Hot Plug operations are easier to perform if:
Internal cables are not routed across the top of adjacent expansion boards, or

Cables have adequate service loops to permit expansion board removal and

insertion.
Use the 46-inch cable to connect the PCI SCSI controller board to
drive cage 1, 2, or 3 as shown in Figure 5-6. Attach one end of the cable to the
68-pin connector on the PCI SCSI controller board. Fold and route the cable
up the length of the board to the expansion board guide
the guide, and down through the appropriate cable channel
