4-14 Compaq ProLiant ML750 Servers Setup and Installation Guide
Installing Cache Accelerators
12. Unlock and open the PCI Hot Plug access doors and verify that system
interlock LEDs are normal. See the "System Interlocks" section in
Chapter 3.
13. Turn on the server. See the "Powering Up the Server" section in
Chapter 3.
14. Verify that the processor was installed correctly. Check the processor
frequency, cache size, and slot location by reviewing the POST
messages on the system console or processor information under the
System Information Menu of the IMD. See Chapter 7, "Integrated
Management Log."
Cache Accelerators must be added when processors are installed on more than
one processor bus. If both buses are populated but Cache Accelerators are not
installed, the system will not boot and an error message will be displayed. The
Cache Accelerators are available in the Cache Accelerator option kit
(part number 328819-B21). To install the Cache Accelerators, follow the
directions below.
CAUTION: The Cache Accelerators are susceptible to damage from electrostatic
discharge. Follow the guidelines in Appendix B for preventing electrostatic
discharge.
1. If the server is on, place it in Standby mode and disconnect the power
cords. See the "Powering Down the Server" section in Chapter 3.
2. Remove the right side access panel. See the "Removing the Right Side
Access Panel" section in Chapter 3.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of personal injury from hot surfaces, allow the
internal system components to cool before touching them.
