This chapter provides the procedures required to prepare a ProLiant ML750
server to be mounted in a Compaq or an industry-standard 19-inch rack and to
install the server in the rack.
Installation Overview
Installing the server in the rack requires the following steps:
1. Select a site and unpack the server, keyboard, and mouse. See the
"Optimum Environment" and "Shipping Boxes Contents" sections in
this chapter.
2. Remove the power supply shipping bracket. See the "Removing the
Shipping Bracket" section in this chapter.
3. Install any expansion boards or other options, such as additional
memory, hard drives, and external storage devices (optional).
You will need to run the ROM-based System Configuration Utility after
you install some hardware options, with the exception of additional
memory and most PCI boards. Refer to the Server Setup and
Management pack shipped with your server to run the ROM-based
System Configuration Utility. See Chapter 4, "Installing Hardware
Options," to install many of the major options.
4. Install the server in a rack. See the instructions in the remaining
sections of this chapter.
