Removing the Top Access Panel

To remove the top access panel:
1. If the server is on, place the server in Standby mode and disconnect the
power cords. See "Powering Down the Server" earlier in the chapter.
2. Loosen the top two thumbscrews and slotted Torx (middle) screw.
3. Using the top access handle, slide the top access panel toward the rear of
the unit about 1.0 inch (2.5 cm).

4. To locate the I/O board, the PCI Hot Plug expansion slots, and
I/O Fans 1 and 2, lift and remove the panel.
5. Turn the top access panel over to locate the access panel labels.
NOTE: These top access panel labels provide instructions for installing expansion boards
and hot-plug fans, as well as information on PCI Hot Plug.
6. To reassemble the server, reverse steps 1 through 4.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of personal injury from hot surfaces, allow the
internal system components to cool before touching them.
CAUTION: Never operate the server with an access panel removed or partially
installed. Doing so will cause thermal damage to the system and could void your
warranty.
