Message What Message Indicates
Network Mgmt This condition only occurs if
Link Down the Management port is
configured for Net Link, and
communication between the
management system and the
DSU/CSU is not currently
possible for the port.
Device Fail An internal error has been
yyyyyyyy detected by the operating
software. yyyyyyyy indicates
the 8-digit hexadecimal failure
code.
The results of the last power-up or reset self-test appear in the middle column of
the System and Test Status screen.

Message What Message Indicates
CPU Fail The CPU failed internal testing.
Device Fail One or more of the DSU/CSU's
integrated circuit chips has failed
device-level testing.
B8ZS/LOS The DSU/CSU failed to transmit all
Fail ones or to detect a Loss of Signal.
Network T1 The DSU/CSU failed to internally
Fail loop data on the network T1 circuit.
Alarm Fail The DSU/CSU failed to transmit AIS
or to detect a Yellow alarm.
Memory Fail The DSU/CSU failed memory
verification.
DSU/CSU The Data Port failed self-test.
Port Fail
Failure An internal failure occurred.
xxxxxxxx (xxxxxxxx represents an eight-digit
hexadecimal failure code for use by
service personnel.)
Passed No problems were found during
power-up.

What To Do
1. Verify that the Management Port
Use configuration option is
properly set (see Appendix A for
configuration option information).
2. Check cables.
1. Provide the 8-digit failure code
shown ( yyyyyyyy ) to your service
representative.
2. Reset the DSU/CSU to clear the
condition and message.
What To Do
1. Reset the unit and try again.
2. Call your service
representative for assistance.
Record the failure code and
contact your service
representative.
No action needed; no problems
were found during power-up or
reset.
