Administrator's Guide for the VSX Series
Symptom
You can hear yourself on
your system's monitor or
external audio system.
There is audio feedback
when a VCR is
connected.
Startup music plays
through the built-in
speaker but not through
the monitor speakers.
When music is played
during the call, it sounds
distorted at the other
sites.

Problem
The far site microphone is
too close to the system's
audio speaker. (Far-site
systems with separate
microphones only)
The far site audio volume
may be too loud.
VSX 6000, VSX 7000,
VSX 8000: The monitor or
external audio system is
connected to the VCR
audio output.
A single VCR is connected
so that it can play or
record, no tape is present,
and VCR - Far and Near
Audio (VSX 7000) or VCR
Audio Out Always On
(VSX 8000) is selected.
The audio system or
monitor speakers are not
properly connected.
The monitor's volume is
turned all the way down.
The music source is not
connected to the system.
The system's echo
cancellation and noise
suppression features may
interfere with music that
the microphone picks up.
The network is
experiencing packet loss.
Corrective action
At the far site, make sure the microphone is placed away
from the system's audio speaker.
Turn down the audio volume at the far site.
Verify that all equipment is connected correctly according
to the installation procedures in
Hardware on page
2-1.
Place a tape in the VCR.
Check audio connections and volume level on your
monitor.
Turn up the volume on the monitor.
Connect the music source to the system's audio input.
Turn off the music.
Retry the call.
