Administrator's Guide for the VSX Series
Symptom
Blue screen in the PIP
window.
PIP goes out of focus
when there is no motion
for several minutes.
Cameras
Symptom
Camera does not pan or
tilt.
Separate camera does
not work.

Problem
The VCR input is selected
and the VCR is not
running. Most VCRs
generate a blue screen
when the tape is not
playing.
The camera selection is
incorrect.
No video input.
The camera is pointing at
an area with no contrasting
features.
To focus properly, the
camera must be able to
detect an edge.
Problem
You are attempting to move
a camera that does not
have pan/tilt/zoom
capabilities.
Camera control cable is
not connected properly.
The RS-232 port is not
configured for camera
control.
The camera is not
connected correctly or its
power pack is not plugged
in.
Corrective action
Select a different camera or play a tape on the VCR.
Select the appropriate camera:
Press
Camera on the remote, then press the number
of the camera you wish to use.
Check that there is a video source connected to the
selected input.
Point the camera at an object with well-defined edges.
Corrective action
Make sure you have selected a pan/tilt/zoom camera.
Check that the camera is connected according to the
instructions in the section
page
2-13.
Go to Admin Settings > General Settings > Serial Port
and verify that RS-232 Mode is set to Sony PTZ.
Check that the camera is connected according to the
instructions in the section
page
