Symptom
The system does not
respond to the remote
control.
The monitor screen
remains blank when you
pick up the remote

The remote control does

Problem
No batteries in the remote
control.
The batteries are installed
incorrectly in the remote
control.
The room lights operate in
the 38 Khz range and
interfere with the remote
control signals.
The infrared sensor is not
receiving signals from the
remote control.
VSX 8000:
The external infrared
sensor is not operating
properly.
The monitor's power cord
is not plugged in.
The monitor is powered off.
The monitor is not
connected correctly to the
system.
This is normal.
The RS-232 port is not
configured as a
touch-panel input.
Chapter 7 - Diagnostics and General Troubleshooting
Corrective action
Install batteries in the remote control.
Insert the batteries in the correct +/- position.
Turn off the lights in the room and try the remote control
again.
Make sure the transparent protective strip has been
removed from the infrared sensor on the front of the
system.
Make sure you are pointing the remote control at the
infrared sensor on the front of the system or the camera.
Check the connections between the rear panel, cable
adapter, and infrared sensor cable.
Connect the monitor's power cord and then power on the
monitor.
Power on the monitor.
Verify that the monitor is connected correctly according to
the installation procedures in the section
Monitor on page 2-16.
Use the VTX 1000 conference phone's controls in
voice-only calls.
Go to Admin Settings > General Settings > Serial Port
and verify the following:
• Baud Rate is set to the same value on the system as on
the touch-panel.
• RS-232 Mode is set to Control.
• VSX 8000: The touch-panel is connected to the port
that is configured as a touch-panel port.
