Preparation and operation

Preparing the system for use involves starting the system modules, configuring chromatography
data-system software, and starting the console software operations.

3.1 Preparing the system

Before you can operate the system, you must power-on the system hardware, configure system
software, and monitor module status.

3.1.1 Powering-on the system hardware

You must power-on the system: the workstation, system modules starting with the µSample
Manager, and the MassLynx software.
Note:
When you power-on a system module, it beeps three times and runs a series of startup
tests. (See
Monitoring LEDs
is powered-on and, if so, its flow status.)
To power-on the system:
1.
Power-on the workstation.
2.
Power-on the following system modules by pressing the power switch on the top, left-hand
side of each module's door:
• µSM-FL
• All solvent managers
• TVM
• Sample organizer, if present
3.
When the power LEDs on all solvent managers and on the µSM-FL show as steady green,
press the power switch on the top, left-hand side of the detector (or detectors).
