Preparing for operation

For normal-phase separations, you can specify pressures of 10,342 to 41, 369 kPA, (103 to
413 bar, 1500 to 6000 psi) and temperatures of 4º to 90º C.
Perform the tasks in this section to prepare the system for use.
Prerequisite:
maintenance guides in the preparing for operation sections before proceeding.
2.1

Start the system hardware

The system can also include these modules:
2
UPC
PDA, ELSD or mass spectrometer (such as SQD, QDa, TQD, or Xevo TQ-XS)
515 pump and pump controller module or ISM
A workstation computer is required to run the data system software and to configure and control
system functions by means of the console user interface.
2.1.1

Before you power-on the system modules

Verify that all fittings are properly tightened, to prevent leaks. Preventing leaks ensures that the
system maintains adequate pressure, temperature, and sample integrity throughout an analysis.
2.1.1.1
Starting the CO
Slowly open the large valve for the CO
Warning:
before disconnecting the CO
manager, stop the flow of CO
(tank or external source).
Warning:

2.1.1.2
Inspecting the system for leaks
