To install capillary tubing:
1.
Connect the end nearest the pump source (active end).
2.
Click Troubleshoot > Set Pressure Diagnostics.
3.
Set the pressure to 70,000 kPa (700 bar, 10,000 psi).
4.
Click Start Purge.
5.
Flush the tubing for a minimum of two minutes (using 50:50 solvent A/solvent B) to remove
any particles.
6.
Click Stop Purge.
7.
Click Stop (set-pressure diagnostics).
8.
Flush the tubing for a minimum of two minutes using 50:50 solvent A/solvent B at a
pressure of 70,000 kPa (700 bar, 10,000 psi).
9.
After connecting both ends of the tubing, whenever the downstream portion of the new
tubing is subject to blocking by means of a valve or other device, perform the set-pressure
diagnostic test, (see the online Help for details), to determine whether leaks are present.
2.6.1.1 Assembling new fittings
For metallic (SST or MP35N) fitting and tubing assemblies with ferrules not previously assembled
or set to tubing, you must mark the compression screw and connection port and ensure that the
two marks line up when you tighten them.

Required tools and materials
• Chemical-resistant, powder-free gloves
• Protective eyewear
• 1/2-inch open-end wrench
• 1/4-inch open-end wrench – for tightening or loosening stainless steel (gold-plated) fittings
with two-piece ferrules
• Column gripping tool – for holding the column while tightening or loosening the dual-threaded
fitting
• Permanent marker
Notice:
To avoid introducing particles into the system that can damage sensitive
components, always flush newly installed tubing.
To avoid eye injury, use eye protection when performing this procedure.
To prevent contaminating system components, wear clean, chemical-resistant,
