Q uilting is the process of sewing the top lay er of f ab ric, with quilting cotton in b etween and a b ottom lay er of f ab ric underneath.
By using the walk ing f oot, the machine f eeds b oth top and b ottom f ab rics together at the same time, so f ab ric shif ting is eliminated.
