3.8 Running a Cutting Test

A cutting test is performed to check whether the specified cutting conditions are suitable for the tool and
media being used. Perform the test that is appropriate for the tool that you are using.
The tool carriage starts moving as soon as a cutting test is selected. To avoid injury to yourself or damage to the
plotter, keep your hands, face and other obstacles out of the vicinity of any moving parts.

Cutter Pen Test

This test allows you to check the suitability of your cutting conditions before you actually begin cutting. If the medium
is not cut cleanly or the corners are rounded, adjust the settings as described in Section 3.9, "Media and Cutting
Conditions".
(1) Load a medium for the cutting test.
(2) Mount a cutter pen.
(3) With the plotter in Ready status, press a key from [F1] to [F4] to select the COND No. for the cutting test.
(4) Use the [

starting position for the cutting test.
(5) Press the
[TEST] key to display the cutting test selection screen.

(6) Press the [F1] key (TEST1) or [F3] key (TEST2) to cut a test pattern.
TEST1: Press the [F1] key to cut a single test pattern.
TEST2: Press the [F3] key to cut three test patterns (the first triangle is cut with the specified force -1, the second
triangle is cut with the specified force, and the third triangle is cut with the specified force +1).
Insufficient offset
Raise the Offset value
(+1 to +5)
Check the cut test pattern(s). If the corners of the triangles or the squares are rounded, the offset setting is too low.
Conversely, if the corners are too pointed, the offset setting is too high.
(7) Press the
[CONDITIONS] key and adjust your settings.
(8) Repeat Steps (4) to (7) until you achieve the desired results.
(9) When the results are satisfactory, press the

Creasing Tool Test

This test allows you to check the check the suitability of the creasing force. Check the depth of the creases and adjust
the creasing force as required.
(1) Load a medium for the creasing tool test.
(2) Mount the creasing tool.
