Chapter 3 PREPARATIONS FOR CUTTING/PLOTTING

3.1 Basic Operational Flow

For smooth operation, please follow the steps outlined below and make the appropriate settings explained in
the relevant sections.
(1) Before turning on the power supply, make sure that the plotter is connected to your computer and to any other
peripheral devices as required.
g 3.2 Connecting to a Compute
(2) Mount a cutter pen and a plotting pen.
g 3.3 Mounting the Tools
The cutter pen tip is very sharp. Before handling a cutter pen, be sure to read the sections 'To Ensure Safe and
Correct Use' and 'Precautions on the Handling of Cutter Pens' at the front of this manual.
(3) Turn on the power supply to the plotter and the peripheral devices.
g 3.4 Turning on the Power and Initialization
The moment you turn on the power, the plotter's Y bar and tool carriage will start to move. Do not put your hands
or place any objects on the writing panel. Such actions are dangerous.
(4) Load the medium.
g 3.5 Loading the Medium
(5) Make the following settings at your computer and the plotter.
g 3.7 Setting the Cutting Conditions
g 3.8 Running a Cutting Test
g 5.4 Setting the Transmission Conditions
g 5.5 Setting the Data Format to be Received
(6) Send the cutting data from your computer to the plotter to start the cutting operation.
The Y bar and tool carriage will start to move as soon as data is sent from the computer, or shortly thereafter. Do
not put your hands or place any objects on the writing panel. Such actions are dangerous.
