Chapter 5 FUNCTION SETTINGS AND OPERATIONS
5.7 Setting the Overlay Function
The Overlay function enables repeated cutting to be performed on a medium that cannot be cut with one
cutting operation. A cutting force that is lighter than the specified FORCE value can be used to leave cutting
trace marks on the medium in the first cutting operation, and then the specified FORCE value used for the
second and subsequent cutting operations.
• ALL mode
Overlay cutting is performed on all of the cutting data as one block.
Overlay cutting using the copy mode cannot be performed on data that exceeds the plotter's buffer size.
If there are no delimiter commands (such as F0 or PG), the plotter waits for a timeout (approx. 10 s) and
then starts the second cutting operation. In this case,"PREPARING TO RECUT" is displayed on the screen
and operations such as changing the COND No., making PAUSE menu settings and setting the origin
cannot be performed until 10 seconds have elapsed.
• BLOCK mode
Overlay cutting is performed of the continuous line segments from one tool down operation until the next
tool up operation.
Overlay cutting can be performed even of data that exceeds the plotter's buffer size.
If the number of continuous line segments exceeds the block buffer capacity, the block buffer is handled as
one block and overlay cutting is performed in separate blocks. The number of blade rotation operations at
the start point may therefore increase.
