Commissioning
4.10 Safety Integrated commissioning
Stable operation with active extended functions without encoder
The following requirements must be fulfilled to avoid error messages from the safe actual
value acquisition without encoder:
● Make sure that the motor and the power unit are adequately dimensioned for this
application.
● Make sure that the ratio between the rated power unit current (r0207[0]) and rated motor
current (p0305) is less than 5 for the motor and the power unit.
● Before commissioning the safety functions, identify the motor data at standstill and
perform a rotating measurement.
● For the basic commissioning (i.e. before the safety commissioning), set the closed-loop
control optimally. The following effects should be avoided:
– Speed overshoots
– Current peaks or discontinuous actual current value characteristic
– Voltage peaks or discontinuous actual voltage value characteristic
– The lowest possible amount of noise in the current and voltage
4.10.4.2

STO/SBC (Extended Functions)

The "Safe Torque Off" (STO) function prevents energy from being supplied to the motor
which can generate a torque.
The "Safe Brake Control" (SBC) function supplies a safe output signal for controlling a
holding brake.
Configuring safety functions
The Safety Integrated Extended Functions are only partly configured in the "STO/SBC"
screen form. Most of the configuration is performed in other screen forms. A procedure is
described in the following if you want to configure the two safety functions.
1. Call the "STO/SBC" safety functions.
A screen form with the same name opens.
