SSM (extended functions)

The "Safe Speed Monitor" ("SSM") function is used for safely identifying when a velocity limit
is undershot (p9546) in both directions of rotation, e.g. to detect standstill. A fail-safe output
signal is available for further processing.
SSM with hysteresis
A velocity hysteresis can be configured for the "SSM" function. In this way, a more stable
signal characteristic of SSM can be achieved at velocities close to the velocity limit.
When the hysteresis is configured, the velocity (or speed) determined by the two channels
must not differ by more than the difference between the velocity limit and the velocity
hysteresis. Otherwise it would be theoretically possible that one channel returns a HIGH
signal and the other a LOW signal for "SSM".
The following figure shows the characteristic of the "SSM" safe output signal when
hysteresis is active:
Figure 4-107 Motion monitoring with hysteresis
The output signal for SSM is smoothed by setting a filter time with a PT1 filter (p9545).
