Step 3. Setup and Run Device Characterization Tests

The PD1000A System Test Instruments

PD1000A Control Software for Power Device Measurement System provides two
basic device characterization tests:
The following table lists the PD1000A test instruments and which PD1000A
Control Software device characterization tests they are used for.
Tests
Device IV and CV
characterization
measurements over
temperature.
On State (Biased) and
Off State (Zero Biased)
S-Parameter
measurements.
Keysight PD1000A Power Device Measurement System Startup Guide
– IV and CV Device Characterization Tests: These Current/Voltage (IV) and
Capacitance/Voltage (CV) tests require the B1506A or B1505A power
device analyzer with its test chamber. These tests may also use the
optional InTEST HP289-PM Thermal Platform for characterization tests
performed over a wide temperature range. See
Device Characterization".
– On State (Biased) and Off State (Zero Bias) S-Parameter Characterization Tests:
These tests are performed at room temperature. They require the E5080A
ENA, the B2902A Precision Source, two PD1000A Bias T Networks, and the
DUT Test Fixture. See

Requires
Refer to the analyzer documentation to install and connect the
analyzer to its test chamber.
For high temperature characterization, the analyzer requires the
InTEST HP289-PM Thermal Platform (Hot Plate). The B1505A
requires the Keysight N1265A text fixture to work with the
InTEST platform.
The InTEST HP289-PM is a temperature controlled platform
designed for use with the Keysight B1506A analyzer (or B1505A
analyzer with the Keysight N1265A test fixture). The platform
permits automated control of plate temperature, from room
temperature of enclosure to 250 °C.
Connects the Gateway to the InTEST Thermal Platform
Controller.
PD1000A Option SPK includes the following:
Qty. 2 Bias T Networks
Qty. 3 Test Fixtures -- One for each, TO-220, TO-247, and
Surface Mount Devices.
Calibration Standards for Test Fixtures
Qty. 2 Type N, Male to SMA Female Adapter 50Nominal
Qty. 2 SMA male to SMA Male Cable. 7 inch cable
Qty. 8 Dual Banana Plug (each end) Cables (4 red and 4 black)
Qty. 1 SMA Connector Torque Wrench (0.90N-m)
