Introduction

PD1000A Test System Overview

Figure 1 shows the hardware components of a complete PD1000A Power Device
Measurement System for Advanced Modeling System. Depending on the device
characterizations you need to run, you may or may not have all of the test
instruments shown. Figure 1 is best printed on an 11x17" paper.
Figure 2 on page 10 shows the software components of a complete PD1000A
System. The PEMG, ADS, EMPro, and Momentum software are not included and
must be purchased separately. Figure 2 is best printed on an 11x17" paper.
The PD1000A system consists of two hardware subsystems, all controlled by the
PD1000A Control Software:
The control software automates almost all of the measurement process and
creates files that can be loaded into the Keysight Power Electronics Model
Generator (PEMG) software. The PEMG software creates the model using the
measurement data and the modeling formula chosen. The model can then be
used in Keysight's Advanced Design System, EMPro, or Momentum for precise,
real-world simulation.

Refer to the individual instrument documentation for specific instrument
calibration instructions as well as specific warranty and support information.
Refer to the PD1000A Control Software help file for detailed information on using
the PD1000A Control Software.

Support

Refer to the individual instrument documentation and help files provided with
your system for warranty and support information. Hardware support (repairs
and calibration) is provided for each of the individual instruments in the system.

– Curve Tracer System (B1506A or B1505A Power Device Analyzer)
-- The curve tracer system provides IV and CV measurements. They
"teach" the model how the device reacts under specific current and
voltage conditions.
– S-Parameter Measurement System (E5080A ENA, B2902A SMU, and
Bias-Ts, Test Fixtures, etc.)
-- The S-parameter measurement system measures the frequency
response of the device under zero-bias and biased conditions. This
"teaches" the model how the device to react in the frequency domain.
