Establishing a connection to the WBM of the RTU

Using the HTTP/HTTPS protocol
The HTTPS protocol is always activated. HTTP can be disabled in the configuration.
You can establish a connection between the configuration PC and RTU using the HTTP or
HTTPS protocol:
● LAN connection
With a local connection from the configuration PC to the RTU you can connect directly. If
the RTU is in sleep mode, you need to change it to service mode by briefly pressing the
button.
● Connection via WAN (Internet/mobile wireless)
With HTTP connections via the Internet / mobile wireless network you need to use the
security protocol "OpenVPN", refer to the next section.
When no OpenVPN server exists and is configured, no HTTP connection between the PC
and RTU is established via the WAN. In this case no message is output when there are
unsuccessful connection attempts.
As an alternative you can use an HTTPS connection if you enable HTTPS in the
configuration and the RTU can be reached via a public IP address.
No OpenVPN is required for the connection of a service PC to the RTU via the Web server
of the TCSB.
