● Protective housing
With higher requirements for the protection of the RTU, you require a suitable protective
housing.
Two suitable protective housings are available in the accessories program of the RTU,
see appendix Aluminum protective housing (Page 370).
● SD card
For the "Logging" mode you require an SD card.
If you need to replace the RTU, you can also use the SD card to transfer the
configuration data stored on the RTU being replaced to the new device. Every change to
the configuration data is saved on a plugged in SD card.
You can also use the SD card to copy the configuration data of an RTU to other RTUs.
This is particularly useful in large projects with many stations because only the station-
specific data needs to be adapted for each RTU.
You will find information on using the SD card in the section Slots for SIM card and SD
card (Page 58).
Note
Operation with SD card
It is strongly recommended that you only operate the RTU with an SD card, in particular
because an SD card is required in the following situations:
• Logging if an error occurs
• Upgrading the firmware version
Master station / communications partners
To use the ST7, DNP3 or IEC protocols you require the relevant firmware variant for the
RTU, see section Communications services (Page 25).
When using the "TeleControl Basic" protocol
● Master station PC with accessories
● Router e.g. SCALANCE M812
● TCSB software:
– TeleControl Server Basic V3.0 + SP2 (or higher)
You will find information on this in the manual, see /4/ (Page 388).
When using the "SINAUT ST7" protocol
● TIM module as communications partner
● STEP 7 for configuring communications partners
