Safe Brake Control (SBC)

Definition according to EN 61800-5-2:
"The SBC function supplies a safe output
signal to control a holding brake."

Example
The safe control of a motor holding brake must be
guaranteed in order to guarantee the motor is at a
standstill.
How does SBC function in detail?
The converter recogniz-
es the selection ofSTO
via a fail-safe input or
via the safe communica-
tionPROFIsafe.
The converter then safe-
ly switches off the
torque of the connected
motor.
SBC is (if configured)
initiated together with
STO. The Motor Module
/ Safe Brake Relay /
Safe Brake Adapter
then carries out the
action and safely con-
trols the outputs for the
brake.
