Safe Torque Off (STO)

Definition according to EN 61800-5-2:
"The STO function prevents energy from being
supplied to the motor, which can generate a
torque."

It is only permissible to open a protective door if the
motor torque has been switched off.
How does STO function in detail?
The converter recogniz-
es the selection ofSTO
via a fail-safe input or
via the safe communica-
tionPROFIsafe.
The converter then safe-
ly switches off the
torque of the connected
motor.

Possible solution
Select STO in the converter.
The pulses are suppressed and the motor
coasts to a standstill.
