Troubleshooting
12. Troubleshooting
The pulseEKKO system is designed to minimize user problems; however, all electronic devices
are subject to possible failure. The following are troubleshooting hints if your system fails to
operate.
If there is an issue, an error message is usually displayed, indicating the possible cause of the
problem.
12.1 Initializing
If a problem occurs during system initialization, the first step is to check the connections. Make
sure that cable connections are tight and fibre optic cables are connected correctly with the
strain relief color matching the receptacle door color (Figure 12-1) and that they have "clicked"
into place.
Figure 12-1: Make sure fibre optic strain relief color matches the receptacle door color (grey to grey and black to
black).
Also, ensure that the software settings for the transmitter are correct for the transmitter that you
are using with the system
Reset the System by Powering Down: If the connections are OK but the error persists, try
powering down the system completely. This power down will include turning off the DVL as well
as the transmitter and receiver. Then power everything back on and see if the system runs.
12.2 Power Supplies
Another common problem that can occur while trying to run a system is insufficient power. The
battery may be dead or have a low voltage. If the system is being run from AC, there may be a
problem with the AC power supply or adapter.
