To configure Ethernet traffic:
1. From the Plug-Ins screen, click the Select New Module tab to view a menu of
all plug-ins installed. Both the 9500 MXC Node (with DAC ES) and Terminal
(IDU ES) identify the Fast Ethernet module function as DAC ES.
2.
: Select E1 or DS1. The DAC ES module requires an E1 or
Capacity Type
DS1 backplane bus; default is E1. If the required Capacity Type selection is
red-flagged the bus must be reset. Go to
the Bus Configuration accordingly.
3.
Channel C1 and Channel C2
Capacity can be direct-entered as multiples of E1 (2.048 Mbps) or DS1 (1.544
Mbps), depending on the capacity type, or by using the up/down buttons.
Equivalent capacity in Mbps is indicated immediately to the right of the
channel capacity boxes.
Note that Ethernet data is mapped into the same byte-wide frames used to
transport TDM data, it is not transported over TDM. 9500 MXC incorporates
a universal modem design that does not distinguish between the type of data
to be transported, Ethernet or TDM, with the result that when 9500 MXC is
configured for Ethernet data, or Ethernet and TDM data, the full configured
capacity is available for user throughput.
NxE1 selection: DAC ES
• The maximum C1 or C2 capacity is 48xE1 / 98.3 Mbps.
• Both C1 and C2 can be configured to their 98.3 Mbps maximum.
• The C1 and C2 maximums can be used to support ring operation up to 98.3
Mbps west, and 98.3 Mbps east. They can also be used to support separate
co-path 98.3 Mbps links.
• C1 and C2 can be configured for same-link operation:
RAC 30 or RAC 40 support link capacities to 75xE1 / 153 Mbps, which
means the sum of the C1 and C2 capacities cannot exceed this figure.
RAC 3X supports link capacities to 100xE1 / 204 Mbps, which means the
C1 and C2 capacities can each be at their 98.3 Mbps maximums for a total
capacity of 196 Mbps.
NxE1 selection: IDU ES
• The maximum C1 or C2 capacity is 48xE1 / 98.3 Mbps.
• C1 and C2 can be configured for same-link operation up to their 98.3 Mbps
maximums for a total capacity of 196 Mbps.
NxDS1 selection: DAC ES
• The maximum C1 or C2 capacity is 65xDS1 / 100 Mbps.
