Right Door Switch Kit Enhancement:
Kit Contents (P/N A2309903):
Firmware:
Firmware revision "T" (or later) is required to activate SP Mode 5-957 for the Right Door Switch circuitry.
The firmware is available from the TSC Web site @ tsc.ricohcorp.com and has been cut into production on
A230, A231, and A232 copiers manufactured as of August 1, 1999.
Allocation:
Each authorized servicing location will receive an automatic allocation of Right Door Switch Kits for a
percentage of the affected population. Additional kits can be obtained by completing the attached Request
Form. This Right Door Switch Kit will be available, at no charge, until 3/31/2000 . After 3/31/2000, the
parts will be available as individual service parts for procurement through normal parts ordering procedures.
Affected Units:
The A230 and A231 models have a slower processing speed then the A232 model. A characteristic of the
slower process speed is an increase in the reliability of paper handling through the Fusing Unit. The A230
and A231 models have a minimal occurrence of "C" area jams. Our internal testing and research of service
histories has concluded that only a small percentage of the A230 and A231 population experienced a service
call for Key Operator unclearable "C" area paper jam condition. "C" Area jams will be more apparent on the
A232 model due to the faster engine process speed. A greater percentage of the A232 will experience
service calls for key Operator unclearable "C" paper jam conditions. Consequently, the A232 will benefit
most with a significant improvement in customer maintainability and usability when the Right Door Switch Kit
is installed and proper maintenance techniques are implemented.
