SUBJECT: DIRTY BACKGROUND / NO-FEED PAPER JAMS
SYMPTOM:
•
Dirty background on copies or prints
•
No-feed paper jam
CAUSE:
A high toner concentration in the developer leads to toner scattering. In addition to dirty background, this
causes the Paper Feed Roller to become dirty. As a result, paper is not fed smoothly by the Roller and
jams.
SOLUTIONS:
1. Lower the image density if it is high. (See Procedure 1 below for De-toning)
2. If it is not high, attach the Lower Guide Mylar (P/N A2309103). The procedure is as follows
(See Procedure 2):

Component parts: Mylar (1 sheet), Sponge (2 pcs), Tape (1 sheet)
PROCEDURE 1:
De-toning
1. Open the Right Door of the machine. Cheat the Right Door Switch and check the Drum surface while
the ID pattern is developed. If the Drum surface is evenly coated with toner perform the following:
2. Remove the Toner Bottle.
3. Slide out the PCU Unit.
4. Cover the Toner inlet opening on the Development Unit with a piece of paper. (Refer to SM page 6-27)
5. Re-install the PCU Unit.
6. Run copies to de-tone the developer.
7. Verify the Drum surface to confirm the machine is running clean.
8. Perform SP2-801.
9. Check that SP2-220 is 4.00 or higher.
10. Check that SP2-802-1 is 4.00 or higher.
11. Remove the PCU Unit from the machine and clean out all the recycled toner that has collected in the
front of the PCU Unit and vacuum the PCU Unit.
12. Adjust SP2-802-2 to 4.30 and SP2-802-3 to 3.90.
   
