L'operazione, effettuata con l'ausilio del
Mathesis, ha il vantaggio di poter
essere seguita su entrambe le cinghie
con il motore montato sul telaio. Al
Mathesis va collegato un particolare
dispositivo detto lettore ottico. Questo
ha un led verde che serve per
effettuare il suo corretto
posizionamento davanti alla cinghia.
Possiede inoltre un emettitore (A) e un
ricevitore (B) infrarosso, capaci di
rilevare le oscillazioni della cinghia
opportunamente sollecitata con un
dito.
Rimuovere i coperchi esterni delle
cinghie distribuzione, svitando le viti (1)

di fissaggio. Rimuovere le candele.
Posizionare l'albero motore in modo
che il cilindro orizzontale abbia il pistone
al punto morto superiore in fase di
scoppio. Ciò si ottiene allineando il
segno di fase (C) della puleggia (2) del
rinvio distribuzione con la tacca di
riferimento (D) sul coperchio frizione

(3).
Rimuovere il coperchietto (4) dal
coperchio alternatore (5) svitando le
due viti (6).
Installare l'attrezzo di bloccaggio (7)
sull'albero motore inserendo i dentini
(E) nelle cave (F) dell'albero stesso.

Impuntare la vite (G) dell'attrezzo (7)
sull'albero motore e serrarla.
Aiutandosi con la maniglia (H)
compiere piccoli movimenti rotatori
per impuntare correttamente il
tampone (L) sul coperchio
alternatore.

Serrare a fondo (manualmente) il
tampone (L).

Checking and adjusting
timing belt tension
Both timing belts can be checked and
adjusted using the MATHESIS tester
leaving the engine onto the frame.
Connect an optical reader to the
MATHESIS tester. The green led onto
the reader shows correct positioning
before the timing belt. The reader
also features an infra-red emitter (A)
and a receiver (B) to detect timing belt
vibrations whilst being duly flicked
with a finger.
Unscrew the retaining screws (1) on
the timing belt covers and remove the
covers.
Remove the spark plugs.
Turn crankshaft so that horizontal
piston is at TDC, in the combustion
stroke. Check that the mark (C) on
belt roller (2) on the timing lay shaft
matches with the mark (D) on the
clutch cover (3).
Unscrew the two retaining screws (6)
of the small cover (4) on the generator
cover (5) and take off cover (4).
Install the tool (7) to prevent
crankshaft rotation. Make sure the
pegs (E) locate into the crankshaft
slots (F).
Start the screw (G) of tool (7) in the
crankshaft and tighten. With the aid
of the handle (H), rotate the tool
alternately until starting the bolt (L) in
the generator cover thread.
Turn the bolt (L) all the way in
manually.
