Network authentication
Network authentication uses the user information from a remote accounting service to
manage authentication.
User information managed by the remote accounting service is sent to, and registered
on the machine. When the user information managed by the remote accounting service
is updated, that information must be sent from the remote accounting service to the
machine.
Network Authentication allows an unified management of user information by multiple
devices.
The remote accounting services supported by the machine includes CentreWare
EasyAdmin.
Remote authentication
Remote authentication performs authentication on a remote authentication server. This
authentication method uses the user information managed by a remote authentication
server. It, however, does not register the user information on the machine.
Important • The user ID and password for the remote authentication server should be set within 32
Features Restricted by Authentication
This section describes the features that are restricted by using the Authentication
feature.
The restrictions depend on the way the machine is used.
The machine can be used in the following two ways.
Local access
Remote access
For information on the restrictions to mailboxes and job flow sheets when the Authentication feature is
enabled, refer to "Authentication for Job Flow Sheet and Mailbox" (P.409).
Local Access
Local access refers to direct operation of the machine from the control panel.
The following features are restricted in local access.
Copy
Copy operations are restricted.
When copy operations are registered in stored programs, the use of these stored
programs is also restricted.
Fax
Fax and iFax operations are restricted.
When fax and iFax operations are registered in stored programs, the use of these
stored programs is also restricted.
Scan
The E-mail, Scan to Mailbox, and Scan to FTP/SMB features are restricted.
When the E-mail, Scan to Mailbox, and Scan to FTP/SMB services are registered in
stored programs, the use of these stored programs is also restricted.
