Calculate the connecting rod -ta-piston pin
clear-
ance.

If
the 1.0. is not over the service
limit,
replace
the
piston pin.
•
If the
I.D.
is over the
service
limit,
replace the
crankshaft
(page
12-12).
PISTON RING INSTALLATION
Clean the piston ring grooves thoroughly.
Install the pis/on
Apply
oil
to the piston rings
and install
them
into
rmg on the pis/on
the piston ring grooves.

Do not damage the
piston
ring
by spreading the
ends too far.

Be
careful
not
to damage the piston during pis-
ton ring installation.
•
Do not align the oil ring
(side
rails) gaps.
•
Space the piston
ring end
as shown.
After
installation,
the rings should rotate freely in
the ring grooves.
CAM CHAIN TENSIONER LIFTER
INSPECTION
Check the lifter operation:
-
The
tensioner shaft should not go
into
the body
when it is pushed.
-
When it is
turned
clockwise with a screwdriver,
the tensioner shaft should be pulled into the
body.
The
shaft should spring
o
ut
of
the body as
soon as the screwdriver is released.
